Through individual membership support and participation, IARSCLE will advance research on community engagement, service-learning and related strategies through promoting the development and dissemination of relevant research internationally and across all levels of the education system. Our intent is to build an international community of researchers and foster dialogue, networking and information exchange throughout this network.
As a member, you have the opportunity to shape strategies and activities that advance our fields. You will receive a complimentary copy of the edited volume arising from the annual International Research Conference on Service-learning and Community Engagement. If you are a student, you will have access to our developing graduate student network that will facilitate connections among graduate students internationally and with scholars in the field.
Members are eligible to host the annual Research Conference, and are invited to participate on the Board of Directors and the Association¹s committees. Announcements regarding opportunities to participate are posted via the IARSLCE members-only listserv. You will also have the opportunity to shape the direction of IARSLCE through participation on committees, membership on the Board, hosting the annual research conference, serving on the editorial board for the annual research volume, and accessing publications and other documentation on the members-only page of our website.
Membership is renewable annually. Everyone who attended the 2006 International Service-Learning Research Conference in Portland, OR was considered a founding member; that membership ran through December 31, 2007 and is now renewable for those who did not attend the 2007 conference. All attendees at the full 2007 Research Conference received a complimentary one-year introductory membership in the Association, which will run through December 31, 2008.
For those unable to attend the 2007 Conference, membership may be purchased directly through the Association. Membership is $80 (US$) for one year. Student membership is $50; proof of full-time attendance at a post-secondary educational institution is required (a letter from a program director, dean, or other institutional official on institutional letterhead naming the student and identifying the educational program and period of enrollment should be sent to our membership coordinator with your membership application). The membership year runs from January 1 through December 31.
Those attending the full 2008 Conference will again be offered a complimentary one-year membership in the Association, which will run through December 31, 2009.
For more information contact our membership coordinator.
We are a new organization, and invite our members to step forward and help shape our directions and activities. We hope you will join us. |
