Get Involved

The Association pursues its objectives through various strategies, programs, and activities that support research and information exchange, member involvement, and dissemination.

  • Sponsorship of the annual International Research Conference on Service-Learning and Community
  • Engagement to fostering of information sharing and networking;
  • Dissemination of findings and methods through an annual edited volume derived from the conference;
  • Creation and management of mailing lists, listservs, and an Internet website;
  • Collaboration with education, research and professional associations and networks to support service-learning and community engagement;
  • Generation of funding for relevant association activities;
  • Support for awards and recognition of achievements.

Leadership Development and Recognition
The Leadership Development and Recognition Committee is responsible for promotion of the IARSLCE Research Awards, review of applications, and recommendation of award recipients.  The committee also oversees the development of the IARSLCE board.

Fundraising and Finance Committee
The Fundraising Committee is charged with responsibility for all activities related to fundraising.  The duties of the committee include proposing organizational partnerships and soliciting sponsorships.

Communications/Membership/Outreach Committee

The Communications/Membership/Outreach Committee is responsible for external communications with potential and current members.   The committee works to expand marketing materials and manages the development of the IARSLCE website.

Conference Oversight Committee

The Conference Oversight Committee has two major responsibilities:  To work with the group responsible for planning the annual IARSLCE conference, providing advice, oversight, and assistance for local arrangements, as needed, and monitoring the conference budget; and to recruit sites and make recommendations to the IARSLCE Board for future conferences.

Publications Committee

The Publications Committee is responsible for development and editing of the IARSLCE Advances Volume.  The committee is comprised of members with journal review and editing expertise, published author, and those with knowledge of working with publishers.

Graduate Student Network
The Graduate Student Network (GSN) is for graduate students who are interested in advancing research on service-learning and community engagement. The GSN is an affiliate group of IARSLCE and provides a graduate-student only listserv, mentoring opportunities, and research advancement and professional development workshops at the annual IARSLCE conference.
